The Banggai Archipelago is separated by the Peleng Straits from mainland Sulawesi and consists out of the islands Peleng, Banggai Island, Bowokan, Labobo, Kebongan, Kotudan, Tropettenando, Timpau, Salue Besar, Salue Kecil, Masepe, and Bangkulu. The first two are the largest ones most easily reached from mainland Luwuk. It is mainly wall diving at the outer edges of atolls and coral reefs, while the inner islands are havens for fringing reefs, coral gardens and reef fish. One of the most interesting species you might spot here is the endemic Banggai cardinal fish. The diving season is only accessible from October to December and from March to May. Other months have severe weather that make diving the offshore atolls dangerous and difficult.
