The two main islands Bangka and Talise or Talisei at the most northern tip of Sulawesi is often seen as a paradise in between two giants. Many tourists choose to go to the better known Bunaken National Park or the Lembeh Strait, both also reached in an hour from Manado. The gateway to Bangka is the town of Likupang and the small fishing villages Pulisan, Benteng and Ponteng. The smaller islands, all worth a visit, are Tamperong, Gangga, Tindila and Kinabohutan.

Being on the most northern tip, Bangka Island experiences extremely strong currents providing for many drift dives and hunting pelagic. Barracudas, tuna, mackerel and jacks all hunt for smaller tropical reef fish that adorn the brilliant examples of hard and soft corals. You can find them in the brightest shades of red, orange, yellow and green.
